Special Thanks Charity Exhibit Organized by Gunjung Kim

Greetings. I am Gunjung Kim, a student at Georgetown Preparatory School in the United States. I have grown up with Joseph Clinic ever since the 7th grade when I had first visited the clinic with my father, who is a doctor. My first volunteer work was to distribute bread and milk to the patients, and since last year I have organized two charity art exhibits which opened up new experiences and lessons. These exhibits were triggered by an event that still lingers in my mind. One day, I had to reject the request of an old lady who asked me to give her more bread. I wanted to go to the supermarket and buy more bread for her, but I had no money with me at that time. At that moment, I decided to raise some money and make donations to Joseph Clinic so that it could give out more bread to those still suffering from hunger.

I began to contact artists who were acquainted with me and explained my goals. To my surprise, most of the artists accepted my suggestion to donate their artwork for my exhibition. The first exhibition, named <Code Name: Save Joseph Clinic>, was finally held last year on August 18th to September 7th and displayed the artwork of 10 artists who supported my idea, making a donation of 5 million Korean won (about $5,000 USD) to Joseph Clinic after the exhibition Thinking about that moment, my heart is still overwhelmed by joy and a feeling of fulfillment.

This year, I held another exhibit beginning on June 21st at a gallery with a café called 126 Mansion. The second exhibit was also very successful, and I was able to make a larger donation than I did last year. Moved by my continued efforts, Joseph Clinic promised to support my annual exhibition event and allowed me to post any unsold artwork on the official homepage of Joseph Clinic. I am also planning to receive art donations on a daily basis. “Helping others will make you happy.” I learned this meaningful lesson from my father, and I will in turn hand this lesson down to my son. This will be the heritage of my family.
Thank you.
